Mr. Mak Chee Soon

Mak Chee Soon serves as a seasoned banking executive and Senior Vice President of Corporate Banking at SMBC in Hong Kong, where he leads business development and regional client relationships. With over 27 years of leadership experience, his extensive expertise spans corporate banking, cross-border M&A strategy, capital solutions, and structured finance. Throughout his career, he has successfully built strong business bridges across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Japan, while extending strategic coverage throughout wider Asia. Prior to his current focus on regional conglomerates, he drove strategic alliances within the Cross-Border Business Development Division after completing his economics degree at Hitotsubashi University in Japan. He is also a passionate pioneer of SMBC’s Shaka-Kachi (social value) initiative, bringing a unique blend of regional enterprise networking and community-centric sustainability to the Chamber.
