May Tan was the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong ) Limited (SCBHK) for three years before her retirement in 2017.
May joined the SCBHK Board in 2009 when the bank acquired Cazenove Asia. May was CEO of Cazenove Asia from 1993 till 2009 and was made a partner of Cazenove & Co in 1995. She is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) on several listed and non-listed corporate boards including HKEX listed LINK REIT and CLP Holdings.
May supports several charitable organisations. She was Vice Chairman of Oxfam Hong Kong from 2008-2017 and remains as Senior Adviser to the Oxfam Council and a member of the Fundraising Committee. Since 2014, May has been on the board of the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation.
She continues to be active in public service and is a member of the Standing Committee on Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service since 2015. In 2016 she was Chair of the Hong Kong Association of Banks, Director of the Hong Kong Interbank Clearing, member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee and a member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. From 2014-2017, May was Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers and a member of the Banking Advisory Committee and a member of the HKEX Listing Committee (2012-2015) and a member of the Takeovers and Mergers Panel (2001-2013).
